Ogaden Youth and Students Union Remembers the Srebrenica Genocide.

July 11 2012- July 1995 saw the mass murder of 8,000 innocent men and boys by Serb Forces led by General Ratko Mladic. It marked the worst atrocity to occur in Europe since the Second World War.

On the 17th anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide, the Ogaden Youth and Students Union urges the international community to refrain from the deadly silence surrounding the hidden genocide in the Ogaden.

The Ogaden Youth and Students Union urges the international community to intervene to stop human sufferings and senseless carnage in the Ogaden.

OYSU recommends the Ethiopian government be held responsible for mass killings, rape, torture and countless other cruel, inhumane acts against the people of the Ogaden. Meles Zenawi and other perpetrators of these extrajudicial executions and other atrocities should be brought before an international tribunal for crimes against humanity.

We cannot afford standby while the Zenawi regime clamps down on innocent civilians in the Ogaden as well as other parts of Ethiopia. We have a moral imperative, as human beings, to intervene to stop this hidden genocide in the Ogaden.

OYSU warns silence from the international community only strengthens the perpetrators as they continue to act with impunity.

Without the intervention of international community, the Ogaden will the site of yet another Srebrenica, another Rwanda, another Darfur, and another Holocaust.
The Ogaden Youth and Students Union expresses their deepest condolences and commitment to remember the Srebrenica Genocide. We honour the memories of the victims and mourn with their families.

The Ogaden Youth and Students Union is a non-profit organization founded on the fundamental principle that all human beings are born equal and have a right to live in peace, dignity, and freedom regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender and other forms of overt and covert discriminations. The Ogaden Youth and Students Union is committed to human rights advocacy, awareness and protection everywhere.
