Ogaden Community and OYSU Melbourne attended DVD Launch on 3 November 2012,

Nov 4, 2012 (QOL) Ogaden Community of Victoria and Ogaden Youth and Students Union Melbourne attended the Launch of Inspirational DVD for Refugees looking for work. The aim of the DVD was to guide Asylum Seekers and Refugee in finding employment. This short film was funded by the Office of Multicultural affairs and Citizenship through the Refugee Action Program and at spectrum MRC and Brotherhood of St Lawrence.

As the members of the Ogaden Community and Youth entered the venue they were amazed to see the colours of the Ogaden Flag used for decoration of the Community Hall. It was inspiration to the Ogaden Community of Victoria.

The Launch began with the performance of Congolese band and acknowledgement of Guest and Communities. Among the guest were Mr Adam Bant (MP), Federal member for Melbourne and Deputy Leader of Greens Party and Hon Nicholas Kotsiras (MP) Minister for Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship. Both Adam and Nicholas were fascinated with the work the Refugee community have put in to launch this DVD. They encouraged continuing the wonderful work they are doing and assured them that they are all part of the Australian Community.

The Ogaden Community of Victoria and OYSU Melbourne had the opportunity to meet both Adam and Hon Nicholas and created Network. It was an opportunity to share with both Ministers the current humanitarian crisis and refugees from Ogadenia currently in Kenya and neighbouring countries, the Genocide that exist in the Ogaden and the support needed by the Australian Ogaden Community in Victoria. The Community also met with members of the Victorian Police force and other African community leaders.

The Event ended with another African performance.
‘Every Human deserves the right to live with dignity, the people of Ogadenia deserve the same dignity ‘.
